ABOUT SCRIPP TUTORING SESSIONS
Tutoring sessions will be run via Skype with additional usage of Microsoft Whiteboard allowing for face-to-face communication and a shared workspace between the student and myself. The sessions will be run in accordance with the Summer Skills review books that you will be directed to purchase after signing up. The Summer Skills books can be purchased for math and or language arts depending on what subjects you would like the student to review and learn.
In the sessions, I will go through the necessary content the book has to offer as well as develop the key fundamentals necessary for the student’s future progression in their academic career. After the sessions, I will be assigning small homework assignments to complete before the next session allowing for the student to practice the information and to provide me with feedback on the student’s progress. Availability for sessions is on a first come first serve basis. The normal session time is 50 minutes.
Sessions will be available immediately and the scheduling page will be the primary form of booking sessions. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has brought challenges to all aspects of life, students still need to learn and develop in their education. I am offering this service in the hopes of helping motivated students keep up with the standard curriculum taught as well as be prepared for the next school year however that may be taught. Following the conclusion of the sessions I will offer the option of receiving a progress report on the student’s development.

About Me
Hi, my name is Stephen Scripp and I am currently a Biomedical Engineering student at Milwaukee School of Engineering. While being a collegiate soccer player on the Men’s Varsity Soccer Team, I have maintained a 4.0 GPA and have been on the High Honor Roll every term. I have had success academically and athletically through hard work and support from others. One of the biggest lessons I learned from being a multi-sport athlete in high school was the importance of time management. Granted, being a detail-oriented student helped, I attribute a large portion of my academic success to my organizational skills. Because of my ability to prioritize and manage my time, I successfully founded and lead the Milwaukee School of Engineering Robotic Surgery Club through its inaugural year and plan on continuing to improve the clubs project base.
My original plan for the summer was to conduct biomedical engineering research, but as with many of our plans it has changed. I started tutoring as a junior in high school at a local middle school, Notre Dame of De Pere, for a math class and really enjoyed working with the kids that needed help. At Milwaukee School of Engineering, I am now a tutor for the Raider Center for Academic Success where I tutor my peers in various calculus and physics courses.
My key philosophies of tutoring have always been patience, creativity, and independence. Patience because all students absorb information at different rates, and tutoring is a time for the student to learn the information at the best pace for them. Rushing a student to understand a concept can seem discouraging and is often less productive as the student feels nervous and or pressured. Creativity because there are many ways to look at the same problem and offering a student multiple ways to solve a problem adds to their educational “tool kit”. By offering multiple ways to “look at” or “solve” a problem, the student is then able to select the method that resonates best with their learning style. Independence is the most important attribute of tutoring.
In my tutoring, I always preach for the student to push through problems and concepts themselves. The reason we teach is so that students will one day be able to think for themselves and solve problems on their own. My goal is to help students grow to be able to think and approach new problems on their own.
"Mr. Stephen is absolutely incredible with my 7 year old who struggles in math. She loves working with him and he makes it fun for her to learn. We just signed up for more sessions for the summer! I highly recommend. This has eased so much stress for me as a parent. There is nothing better than seeing your daughter enjoy learning. As a mom, I get to do the math that I enjoy with my daughter because I know Stephen is teaching her the fundamentals."`

"I highly recommend Stephen Scripp for math tutoring. He has been working with my three boys since we have been homeschooling during COVID-19. I have him scheduled every day! He possesses a good balance between empathetic responding and maintaining structure. He provides a caring and professional approach when working with my boys. I am looking forward to his summer program as they continue to advance in math!"

"We are so pleased with Stephen's tutoring services, he engages our child in activities that are fun, challenging, and educational. We appreciate his patience and ability to teach one on one without a lot of our support. Lillia is always excited for her sessions with Mr. Stephen, which really is encouraging to us as parents!"
